In case you missed it, The Colbert Report had a classic segment on all things NBA. They touched on the impending LeBron free agency, the perennial suckitude of the Knicks, and also threw in an interview with an apathetic Mike D'Antoni. They even had the common courtesy of making an Eddy Curry reference. The fun starts at 1:00.

Lol absolutely hilarious. My favorite part:

D'antoni: Bottom line is winning, you have to win, no matter what.
Colbert: Why didn't you try that this year?

This caught me off guard and I was laughing my ass off.

I actually felt sorry for Mike D'Antoni there. In the past he's shown he's obviously a proud guy, not the type to take shit without giving some back. So, to see him reduced to a hapless straight man for Colbert's punchlines for almost five minutes was just sad. It was like a metaphor for his whole Knicks career, he has to just sit there, take it, and pretend that it's all okay, even though he went from being one of the most celebrated coach's in the game to an afterthought loser for the worst franchise in the league.

"We have a check list."

Well, you might as well not, Mike.

The New York Bricks are screwed, I bet nobody of any note signs with them this offseason, maybe Stoudemire, then we'll see how good he is without Steve Nash lobbing the ball to him, same shit that happened to Quentin Richardson, Joe Johnson, Shawn Marion, Boris Diaw, and Raja Bell.

Just to follow up, this is what watching Mike D'Antoni coaching New York feels like:

Sorry, videos not available in your country.

I hate the USA.

@Vasco: Believe me dude, it's not even remotely funny, except the Curry reference and maybe the aforementioned question about trying to win. I'm not trying to be a troll, but do you Americans actually laugh at this shit?

WV: "kingly" - how appropriate =)
